People often minimize the caloric impact of eating buns, breads and pitas that keep their sandwiches together. Bread doesn’t contribute significantly to the taste of the filling, so you can do without it. I personally have a tough time eating a sandwich or burger totally naked, but I’ve noticed that, much of the time, the bread or bun is over sized compared to the filling.
You can reduce your carbohydrate intake significantly by trimming the extra bread around the edges of the sandwich. It doesn’t look as pretty, but it still tastes better than an iceberg lettuce wrap. Another alternative is to ask for the sandwich or burger open-faced. You’ll cut the carbohydrates in half without feeling as though you’re really depriving yourself.
